The municipality of El Valle
El Valle is a municipality in the Valle de Lecrín (Granada) made up of three villages that have shared a common destiny since 1972. Restábal is the administrative capital and seat of the Town Hall, Melegís is known for its Orange Fair, and Saleres, the smallest, keeps its Nasrid layout intact.
Just 30 minutes from Granada and the Costa Tropical, El Valle enjoys a subtropical microclimate unique in the province, among orange groves, olive trees and Arab irrigation channels.

The three villages
Restábal
Capital of El Valle and seat of the Town Hall since the 1972 unification, at 538 m at the confluence of the Dúrcal and Saleres rivers. Its name comes from the Arabic Raʼs aṭ-Ṭabl (“head of the board”) and preserves the Nasrid Arab castle and the 16th-century Church of San Cristóbal.

Melegís
The best-known village, of Nasrid origin. Its San Juan Evangelista Church is a Site of Cultural Interest, with a 16th-century Mudéjar coffered ceiling, and its orchards are still irrigated by the Arab irrigation channels from the 13th century. It has hosted the Feria de la Naranja since 2000.

Saleres
The smallest and quietest, with its Nasrid layout intact among almond trees and centuries-old olive trees. Its place name derives from the Arabic Salīrīs and rock-art stelae have been found nearby, along with Barranco Luna and its fossils from the ancient Tethys Sea.
